Hello guys,

Parallel to Kreidler Passion, I try to overhaul a Solex 3800 blok from 1972. Supposed to be like a 2cv, easy mechanic... I am stuck against lof of issues and doubts... Who use a Solex on the forum ? If someone already overhauled one of those blok, I have a question :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzFKyX9 ... e=youtu.be
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4PyV_l ... e=youtu.be

At the origine, the crankshaft 6203 bearing is maintained in the carter by an alu edge, in top of the bearing housing. This maintaining edge disappared after a disassembly, and this is the reason why we are supposed to change whole carter who was in the past delivered with already mounted 6203.

The "tweak" I see everywhere is to mount the new bearing with Loctite sealant, and to make some edges in the alu with a hammer to be sure the bearing wont get out of his housing... The problem is that the bearing is supposed to be mounted by a press : Today, I discovered that I can push my new 6203 only by hand ! All French Solex Riders are blaming me, saying that I can throw my carter in recycle bin !

They think that I dismantled the old like a pig, and destroyed the thing. But that is not right, I heated carter like on every bike and the bearing felt easily. The bearing housing is in perfect state, no trace like if the old bearing seized and turn in aluminum... What I dont understood is that this bearing is not supposed to have axial forces... What do you think, Loctite 603 enough ? Or I should find a lathe man to make a "bus" save...

If I compare to cars, I can see that french vehicles always getting me on nerves for shit problems.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you killed your carter the carters are not Aluminium but Zamac verry week the bearing is a press fit with an upstanding edge witch after installing your bearing rolled tight Gluing with Locktide wont work a steel busching with a smaller bearing works some times 6003

But how could I kill, we dismantled very soflty, not with a hammer. I dont understand how it is possible. All Mechanics are telling me that a Loctite Scellant is well enough to fit, and the my Solex is "only" a SOlex, not a space shuttle.

So Piet how do you do on your Solex ? 6203 replace is also discouraged/not possible ? So you change whole carter when the bearing is old ? Today it is not in stock anymore. And unfortunately I just made registrations papers. The Solex Number are on the blok. If I buy a new one, it wont be the same number, shit.

Solex made this carter for make it non removable bearing as I understood !
