Fugledal does mention that the rear threads in the bar might have broken bolts in them which are covered up. :) The threads must be there and most likely are. In this case, drill them out and tap M8 threads, instead. That is, if you can't save the original M6 threads! ;) I had a seat like that, year...

Oil and grease save money! :P Do the same with your brake cables and nipples, as well. The amount of braking force lost with dry cables/nipples is surprising! As mentioned earlier (kreidler844) a kinked cable causes similair problems. A dry cable will do the same, so lube it up.

Put a dab of grease on the nipple after checking the nipple isn't a tight fit in the arm.

If it's both dry and a tight fit, it'll click and cause more resistance.

Also grease the nipple in the handle.
