Kreidler Florett GT 1967.

Hello one and all.

First of all, i write in english because i am from Denmark, and as such, i unfortunatly don't understand a word of dutch, so bare with me.

A couple months ago i had the good fortune of getting a 1967 Grand touren, aka GT in my hands. It was originaly sold in switzerland, and then importet here to Denmark. It has a few differences from the danish version. The machine was running but not optimal. The paint finish was very matte, and it appeared to have not seen any kind of maintenece since it rolled of the assembly line. It had around 28.xxxkm on the clock.

I took the bike completely apart, gave it a good cleaning, and a polish. And ofcourse a thorough service along the way. I think it came out pretty respectable. Only thing i restored was the front fork, and the engine, and the engine i didn't do myself. Unfortunatly, the engine will have to be redone, it is, to put it mildly, just not good enough! slack in the main bearings, leaking oil, clutch problems, and some other issues. I guess that's what i get for not doing it myself. I would like to restore or replace the rear shock absorbers, now that the front ones actually work, the rear ones are kind of soft, hehe.
Some time down the line i'd like to refurbish the seat, and paint a few select parts, like the headlight, and the chain cover, otherwise it's almost perfect, complete with 45 years of mild patina!

This Kreidler is the best , the GT for Switzerland.
But do not paint the headlight! And instead of spraying the chaincover, you can better buy a new one.
Overall very nice!!

Very nice indeed! this is a real Kreidler, not a polised thing wich lookes like tablesilver...just a real bike, for driving and to look at forgive my bad englisch

Nice Kreidler, I have the same in the original red paint for the Dutch market.
I like the grey color because it looks more old fashion than red!
I don't like the short seat in combination with the luggagecarrier!
Keep him esthetical like it is and have fun with it.

Thanks all.. I will paint those parts eventually, not just to improve the looks, but the plastic is showing signs of becoming fragile, so i wanna protect it, in order to give it the longest lifespan possible, trying to find a new headlight for this model here is impossible, and that is put mildly!
