Re: Tim (UK) met zijn Scrab Kreidler for landspeed racing
Thanks Maarten.
Today was the first time i have ridden it, just briefly. It still needs the carb setting up.
The engine is freshly put together by Ron Ponti, he said it should be about 12hp, so it's only in mild tune at the moment, but i'm fairly confident that it will get to around 70mph with the aerodynamics.
I will be running it at Pendine sands in May, so we will know quite soon.

Re: Tim (UK) met zijn Scrab Kreidler for landspeed racing
Thanks Alfri.
The screen is now mounted. The Kreidler fairing was too small to be of any use, so i have used a Honda RS125 one which has much better aerodynamics.
With so little power i went with getting minimal drag and trying to make the tail wake very small.

"The aerodynamics of a brick" is often used to describe not very streamlined cars, but you gave that expression a new meaning with the styling of your fairing

Pendine sands land speed.
Back from Pendine sands with a poor result. Managed to establish a new record over the mile, but it was only 48.669 mph. The bike would not pull top gear and had some very odd running issues.

Wikipedia
Pendine Sands,
Pendine Sands is 7 miles (11 km) of beach on the shores of Carmarthen Bay on the south coast of Wales. It stretches west to east from Gilman Point to Laugharne Sands. The village of Pendine is close to the western end of Pendine Sands.
Welsh TT races Trophy, originally awarded for races on Pendine Sands, later (circa 1950) for races held on the hard roads of Mynydd Epynt
In the early 1900s the sands were used as a venue for car and motor cycle races. From 1922 the annual Welsh TT motor cycle event was held at Pendine Sands.[1] The firm, flat surface of the beach created a race track that was straighter and smoother than many major roads of the time. Motor Cycle magazine described the sands as "the finest natural speedway imaginable".
Scrab Kreidler
Scrab was constructed in Paris by Aufrère and Jean-Claude Besse from 1972 - 1976.
SCRAB (Société de Construction et de Réalisation Aufrère et Besse).
Custom- built to order and you decided the suspension and brake layout.
Kreidler engines were used for power, sometimes with a little twist, like the pull- stud gearshift- system.

Yes, i was expecting nearer 70mph, but it was not running well for some reason we cannot figure out.
I will try and fix it and may get back there in September for another go, if not next May.

I don't know the exact weight, but i have used magnesium and titanium wherever i can, and made everything as light as possible.

Sorry, I don't understand the performance.
There are a lot of people with different RS.
Even their bikes are clearly faster.

Hallo,
please make list of your motor setup en tuning performance....
78km/h can´t be all for a 50ccm Kreidler....

I don't know the full engine spec as it was built by Ron Ponti. He said it was 12hp, 12k RPM, 24mm pwk.
Also you have to allow a big speed drop for the massive drag of the sand. It's not the same as running on tarmac.
